    Bourgault introduces 3710 coulter drill

The 3710 is available in widths up to 60 feet, and it comes with independently linked openers spaced at 7.5, 10 or 12 inches.

Those options give the 3710 the widest range of opener spacings in the industry, when it comes to coulter drills.

St. Brieux, Sask.-based Bourgault is using the same parallel linkage on this drill that it uses on its other models, but the similarity stops there. This drill uses 20-inch discs that can wear down as much as three inches before needing replacement.

According to Jason Kirsch, Bourgault’s marketing manager, the discs are set at a 10-degree camber, and that improves their ability to penetrate the soil and reduce hair pinning.

The opener also has a unique walking-beam design that couples the packer wheel to the gauge/cleaner wheel, which ensures more consistent seed placement in uneven terrain.

With adjustable settings on the walking beam hinge, the drill is adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions, while still maintaining a high level of seeding accuracy, Kirsch says.  And the openers are available in shesingle or double-shoot designs.

Optional mid-row banders are also available for the 3710, along with a choice of three packer wheel designs.
