Swath roller follows better, offers transport ease

One of the displays in the Farm Progress Show’s “New Inventions” pavilion features the Revo Roller. Built by Hauser’s Machinery of Melville, Sask., this steel-drum swath roller represents a rethink of the single-hitch design found on the conventional models that dominate the marketplace.

The Revo Roller connects to the swather with two hitch points, keeping it rigidly fixed in position. “There is no (other) swath roller being built like this one,” says Keith Hauser, owner and inventor.

Hauser says his design is intended to correct two common failings inherent in other swath rollers: the tendency of the wheels on a single-hitch design to trample swath during sharp turns, and the difficulty in backing up with a roller attached.

With the double-hitch design, the Revo Roller eliminates both of those problems, according to Hauser.

And to eliminate problems with road transportation, the Revo Roller easily converts to a transport position with a side hitch and third wheel.

The unit is currently available only in a 10-foot width, which Hauser says is adequate for most applications.
